As part of the 25 Unseen the New Series campaign to promote further-flung tourist destinations, TAT Chiang Rai is getting creative.
“There is a temple here, Wat Nantaram in Chiang Kham District of Phayao Province, which has been selected as one of the top 25 new unseen destinations of Thailand,” explained Wisut Buachum, Director of TAT Chiang Rai and Phayao.
“This Burmese design temple was carved from teak supplied by the foreign teak trade at the time. Hidden amongst the exquisite art works are 12 cupids – perhaps a cheeky bit of humour added in by the craftsmen.”“Since cupids are not seen in Thai temples normally, this is a point of interest to many visitors to the temple and offers a local experience which also helps the local economy“ Visit this unique temple and see if you too can spot all 12 cupids!
