“Head up North!” Invites TAT Chiang Rai office

With Thailand fully open as of June of this year, tourists are returning.

Chiang Rai province has, according to TAT Chiang Rai, been preparing for the return of both Thai and foreign visitors since December of last year when it kick-started the Blooming Chiang Rai campaign. With the aim to reinvigorate the agricultural, tourism, industrial as well as service sectors of the economy, Wisoot Buachum, Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Chiang Rai Office, is responsible for tourism promotion in the field of public relations and stimulating tourism marketing.

According to Wisoot, in 2019, Thailand had the highest tourism revenue with 77,393,030 foreign visitors, gaining income from foreign markets of 1,646 billion baht. Chiang Rai received 3,729,148 visitors in 2019, divided into 3,091,201 Thai visitors and 637,947 foreign visitors, earning a total income of 2.9 billion baht, ranked in second place in the Northern Thailand, following Chiang Mai.

The aim is to promote Chiang Rai as a destination for natural tourism, cultural arts tourism, community-based tourism, sports tourism, experiential tourism such as outdoors and soft adventures, new-style tourism, workation, etc. TAT Chiang Rai Office, along with all tourism associations, tourism clubs and entrepreneurs in various branches are organising activities to stimulate tourists to travel Chiang Rai during July-September 2022 under the campaign “Wow Chiang Rai in Green Season” by presenting natural attractions during the green season.

Outdoor and soft adventures activities will offer 10-50% discounts on goods and services or other privileges from operators of accommodation, restaurants, souvenir shops coffee shops and cafes, car rental companies, travel agencies, community tourism, health tourism, spas, as well as shop operators in Central Chiang Rai Plaza, more than 200 participating in this activity.

Tourists who will travel to Chiang Rai in the period of July to September 2022, can receive discounts and others from participating establishments of this project (on conditions stated). The Tourism Authority of Thailand, Chiang Rai Office will hold an event “แอ่วเจียงฮาย สบายๆ สไตล์หน้าฝน Wow Chiang Rai in Green Season” at the activity area, G floor, Central Plaza Chiang Rai Plaza during 1-3 July 2022, with a booth of tour operators in a special price, stage performance, games for prizes, etc. The official opening ceremony will be held on Friday, 1 July 2022 at 4 PM.
